“German Milwaukee: Its History, Its Recipes”

The title of this weighty, heavily illustrated hardback book says it all.  Written by Trudy Knauss Paradis with E.J. Brumder, with photographs by Katherine Bish, the book is a mix of history and recipes of German specialties.  With tons of illustrations that capture long-lost Milwaukee, the volume focuses on the contributions made by German immigrants and their descendants, from the beer industry to architecture to shopkeepers to heavy industry and more.  E.J. will remind us of Milwaukee’s German flavor and influence.  The recipes in the book come in two forms.  Photos from the well-known Brew City schnitzel barons like Mader’s , Karl Ratzsch’s, Bavarian Inn and Weissgerber’s Gasthaus, but even more interesting are the ordinary German-American Milwaukeeans who share treasured recipes and family lore.  Bring a guest, sit back, and enjoy taking a walk back through the streets of

German Milwaukee!
